The triggering of alerts is controlled by the setting of alert thresholds on each service. The defined values are preconfigured by the blësk team in order to save you time and facilitate your experience of using the solution. However, it may happen that you have to modify and adjust the predefined thresholds to better meet your needs and personal environment.
We will see how to do this on the service models used by blësk to monitor your equipment. The example that we are going to show you will be done on the service model called “Port-Interface-Statistics” but the logic is the same for all the other existing services.
In the example that follows, we will look for the service template called “Port-Interface-Statistics” so that we can edit it to change the predefined thresholds for those we want.
1 – Go to APM | Configure, then authenticate.
2 – Once authenticated, click on Supervision | Services, then in the search field, search for the name of the desired service template called “Port Interface” and once displayed, click on the pencil icon to edit the parameters of the service in question.
Once in the service parameters, you will notice fields indicated with numbers of arguments representing the values of the thresholds. One field represents the value for the thresholds in the “Warning” state and the other that of the “Critical” state. In our example, $ARG3$ and $ARG4$ represent these values but it should be noted that this can change from one service to another.
These fields are said to be dynamic, in other words, the values represented by these arguments can change from one type of service to another. Therefore, they are not specific for only entering values representing thresholds. We can see it in this example with $ARG2$ representing the name of the interface and $ARG1$ that of the SNMP community.
Still, in our example, 90% is the default value that we defined for the “Warning” threshold in the $ARG3$ field and 97% for the “Critical:” threshold in the $ARG4$ field. You must therefore change these two values to the one you want in these fields then click on “Save” to save your modifications.
1 – Do not forget to click on the button at the bottom of the page called “Write all config files” in order to write all the modifications to the server disk.
2 – Finally, go to the Tools | Control and click on the four buttons appearing on this page in the order shown below (from top to bottom). This allows for a final check and to make sure that everything is set up properly before restarting the process in real time. Note, if you see an error, it is important to fix it before restarting the process.
